Cash Matthews is a licensed financial advisor and has been in the financial services industry since the early 1980s. He founded The Solomon Group with the idea that all people deserve proper financial guidance, and that people with high integrity and good hearts should not be excluded from the financial world.
In 2006, Cash was inducted into the National BMX Cycling Hall of Fame, located at the U.S. Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, California. As a competitor from an early age, he represented the Mongoose Corporation as one of its recognized factory rider representatives. Beginning in 2007, Cash assumed the role of master of ceremonies at the National Hall of Fame ceremony.
Since TSG’s inception, Cash has created such programs as Money University, The Business Owners Networking Group, Vacation Business School, The Taxelope and Money Matters Ministry. In 2009, he chose to expand his financial services business across the US. Cash is the author of “The Solomon Way,” an agent training manual published in 2014.
Barbara Engle is a financial professional, teacher and expert storyteller who travels the world with her family. As employee No. 756 at Microsoft Corporation, Barbara held multiple leadership roles for over 20 years and today is an entrepreneur in the world of travel and finance.
Barbara provides financial information and guidance to families and businesses that want to create a legacy and protect it. She creates vision and helps solve problems to help others accelerate growth. She believes that people of every age and every financial status can attain economic independence.
Barbara is an award-winning international public speaker who lives in Austin with her husband and two young children. She loves God, life, people, travel and adventure.
Richard (Ric) Cordle is an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) and independent financial advisor with The Solomon Group Financial Services in Austin, Texas. Ric’s first foray into financial advising, started when his United States Air Force commander asked him to prevent the recurrence of a bad check incident. He instituted a class that dealt with balancing checking and savings accounts that evolved into a class that studied mutual funds, stocks and bonds. This humble beginning of educating and serving others with balancing a checkbook and the simple study of mutual funds, stocks and bonds was the informal start of Ric’s financial career.
Ric got his formal start as a financial advisor in 2001 with Primerica with a general lines health and life for the state of Texas in 2001. In addition, he earned his FINRA Series 6-Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative Examination and his Series 63-Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination in his first full year with Primerica. Ric joined The Solomon Group, LLC as a financial professional in 2013 and has been with them since.
He earned his FINRA Series 65-Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination in 2016. Ric’s main goals with his clients are first, to help the client to define their end goals and second, to ensure that they have the funds in the right products and ventures to facilitate their success with their retirement goals.
Ben Randle was born and raised in Austin, where he lives with his wonderful wife and their always-happy yellow lab. He’s an Investment Adviser Representative and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on finance from St. Edward’s University. In Ben’s previous 25-year career as an estate manager, he combined a love of service and “fixin’” things. Traveling all over the world during that time, he became interested in how money works and realized that there are answers out there to financial issues we all face, but they are not usually available to everyone. Fortunately, at The Solomon Group, Ben has found a place where Wall Street meets Main Street — where world-class solutions are accessible to all of his clients.
David Temple is an Investment Advisor Representative with The Solomon Group. Since 2009, David has been helping families and business owners take control of their financial futures. From individual savings plans and retirement planning to employee benefits and executive compensation strategies, David and his team work closely with clients to help them lead financially successful lives.
David spends most of his non-working time with his wife and four sons, volunteers actively in his church and in Scouting. David holds a FINRA Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative license as well as a Texas Group 1 insurance license.
Marc Carlson has a passion for helping people do better with their money and plan for their retirement goals and dreams. He began his career after graduating from Liberty University with a degree in accounting in 1991, working for a certified public accounting firm in San Diego. He then moved to Austin in March 2000 to work as the general manager for the Austin Ice Bats. Marc currently has a day job in the coffee industry as the chief financial officer for The Serengeti Trading Company, managing the day-to-day financial and hedging operations of the coffee importer. He is licensed as Investment Adviser Representative with The Solomon Group and has helped lead the Money University seminar.
Marc enjoys teaching others about life insurance and the markets and helping them understand how all the pieces will fit together for the big picture. He believes having a financial vision is the first step in creating your financial plan.
Among many community endeavors, Marc volunteers for the LiveStrong bike challenge in Austin. He enjoys acting, cycling, baseball, softball and golf, as well as spending time with his wife, Kim, and their dog, Brodie.
A proud Texan, Craig Robinson has been blessed to grow up and experience many changes in Austin over the last 35 years. He joined The Solomon Group team five years ago and has been tremendously blessed by the values and ethics he has encountered at the company, first as a client and then as an advisor. Craig’s goal is to share these values with everyone he comes into contact with. He especially connects with the company creed, “To honor God and care for people.”
Craig and his wife, Laura, have three grade-school-age children: Kailee, Zeke and Summer.
Timothy Nieto is originally from Austin and graduated from the University of Texas in 1998. Immediately after college, Timothy began a 15-year career as an educator. He joined The Solomon Group in 2012, fulfilling his passion to provide an even financial playing field for others. Timothy’s involvement with his three wonderful children — Emily, Diego and Xavier — and his responsibilities with The Solomon Group leave him limited time for other passions. When such moments become available, you’ll find him pursuing his interest in travel, getting away to a new adventure that creates lasting memories of shared experiences.
Gary Motal listens to clients’ ambitions and dreams, and then helps them clarify their vision and design a plan to help them achieve financial success through overcoming the hurdles that life invariably presents. He believes that recognizing and overcoming potential setbacks helps people focus on doing the correct things to build the foundation they desire. In this process, Gary has helped many clients get out of debt and stay out of debt, saving large amounts of cash to maintain their lifestyles and help achieve their goals in retirement.
Cathy Ruiz earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on finance from the University of Texas at Austin and has an M.B.A. from Texas State University. Early in her career, she worked at various banks as a teller, customer service representative and credit analyst. Fulfilling her desire to assist others with their financial plans, she joined The Solomon Group in June 2011 as a financial representative. In this role, she is lucky enough to serve others in the community and to ensure an earlier start toward their financial future. She believes it is never too late to start.
Cathy lives in Austin with her husband, Kenneth, and sons, Christopher and Benjamin. When she is not busy at the games rooting for the Texas Longhorns, she is spending time with family and friends on the lake, listening to live music and traveling around the world.
Randi Lee Babcock was born and raised in La Mesa, San Diego County, California, and has lived in Washington, Oregon, Texas and Colorado.
Randi attended Grossmont Community College in El Cajon, California, where she majored in instrumental and vocal music, including performance. She has been a self-employed private piano and voice teacher, performer and online business owner. She has also been a business manager for The Los Angeles Herald Examiner and The Californian newspapers in California and for Lakeshore Estates and Englewood Estates retirement communities in Texas.
Randi and her family strive to follow the examples of Jesus Christ and believe in families, serving others and that each person has the potential to improve and succeed according to his or her desires. These values are the basis for Randi’s work ethic and align with those of The Solomon Group. Randi interacts with every person she meets on the following terms: “Give first, give back, give thanks.”
Randi and her husband, Steven, have been married for over 45 years and have six children and 16 grandchildren.
